Construction Phase

Project Summary

The project includes new construction of approximately 260,000 gross square feet on the existing Shaun F. Beasley Track and Field. The project site is approximately 19.3 acres, comprising the new Shaun F. Beasley Track and Field and the existing high school building and parking acreage. The configuration of the new construction will feature preferred programmatic adjacencies with three-story L-shaped academic pods, optimized for best fit to avoid phased construction.

WMGLD Energy Park Update

“almost all equipment is there (on-site), and we are commissioning the generator and switchgear right now, while also testing the “blackstart” setup on the battery. The battery has been running as a peak shaver since June 2025, and the generator should be doing the same thing by the end of the year.

Over the winter, we (WMGLD) will be programming the microgrid controller to control the battery and generator automatically in the event of an outage.

We (WMGLD)  are also working on energizing both schools’ transformers before the winter – this should be complete by  early December.”*

Energy Park Project - Battery Storage Units - Powered by excess PV (Solar Panels on WMHS/NEMT rooftops) power generation to be utilized as "back-up" power for both Schools.
